Powell River

Powell River is located on BC’s beautiful Upper Sunshine Coast, 75 air miles from Vancouver and across from Comox on Vancouver Island. The community and environs have a population of about 22,000. Access is by road and ferry from Vancouver or Vancouver Island. There is also excellent air service from Vancouver.

Powell River offers a wide variety of amenities including some of the world’s finest boating areas, world class fishing and scuba diving, hiking, camping and a Les Furber designed 18 hole golf course. Mount Washington, located 15 miles north of Comox is one of BC’s premium skiing areas. There are excellent schools up to community college level, an internationally recognized Academy of Music and outstanding cultural and recreational facilities.

Powell River is home to the internationally acclaimed bi-annual Choral Festival Kathaumixw which attracts visitors and participants from all over the world. The recreation complex has two NHL-sized ice sheets, a 25-metre swimming pool with an adjoining shallow children’s pool, a hot pool for adults and a sauna. There is also a fitness centre with strength training equipment and free weights, a 725 seat theatre and 5 meeting rooms.
